Prof. Danqing Song

Professor Danqing Song is a professor and doctoral supervisor at South China University of Technology, and Deputy Director of the Office of Development Strategy and Planning. He is a recipient of the Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, the “Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program” of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the “Shuimu Scholar” Program of Tsinghua University. Professor Song serves as a council member of several academic organizations, including the Redbed Engineering Slope Branch of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME), the Ground Rock Engineering Professional Committee of CSRME, the Landslide and Engineering Slope Branch of CSRME, the Underground Engineering Committee of the Guangdong Society of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and the Guangzhou Ecological Security Society. He has long been engaged in research on rock engineering geology related to slopes, landslides, tunnels, and underground caverns. His main research interests include dynamic effects of rock mass structures, dynamic disaster mechanisms of rock masses, monitoring, early warning and prevention of geological hazards, and intelligent construction of underground engineering. He has participated in numerous major projects such as the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, the Three Gorges Project, the Jiudian Gorge Dam on the upper Yellow River, Heifangtai, and the Xiangli Expressway in the middle Jinsha River, conducting stability evaluation and prevention of major landslides, high slopes, and deep-buried tunnels.
He has published 99 SCI/EI papers (84 SCI papers, 15 EI papers). Two of his papers were listed as ESI Highly Cited Papers in 2020, and one was listed as a Hot Paper in 2023. As first/corresponding author, he has published 55 SCI papers (including 16 in top-tier journals) and 12 EI papers, mainly in leading journals of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering such as Engineering Geology, Landslides, Acta Geotechnica, and Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. His total SCI citations exceed 1,200, with an h-index of 20. He has co-authored three industry/group standards, filed 36 international/invention patents, 6 utility model patents, and obtained 22 software copyrights.
